Does building green cost more?

From Inhabitat:

Buildings account for 40% of greenhouse gas emissions - AND - making a building “green” costs just 5% more in construction costs.

Technically, yes, a little, but it’s a price we can’t afford not to pay.

I have yet to see the numbers in the study because inhabitat is not linking to it correctly. I wonder if the study includes ongoing maintenance costs of “green building” and also post-use costs like demo and/re rebuilding/re-purposing the building.

Maybe the study includes it, but I haven’t seen it. There are more then just construction costs that need to be accounted for.
